Our Story

The Juna Foundation focuses on leveraging technology and local people in order to remove geographical barriers to learning.

In 2023 the Trustees established a goal of overcoming obstacles in order to improve the quality of education in deprived communities in the hope of helping the people within these communities having more opportunities to develop and create a positive impact in their communities and the wider world.

They say that charity starts at home and so we turned our attention to a rural and deprived area of Pakistan, where the Juna family originate from.

We believe that one-off handouts are not a long-term solution. We seek to establish lasting change that improve the quality of life for local people forever

We believe that one-off handouts are not a long-term solution. We seek to establish lasting change that improve the quality of life for local people forever

Our strategy is to identify and overcome the barriers in specific communities to providing a higher quality of education and greater opportunities for the people within the community:
  • Access to clean drinking water
  • A physical premises that provides students with comfort and protection from the area’s heat which can be between 40 and 50 degrees Celsius
  • The ability to provide learning facilities with access to reliable electricity to support lighting, cooling and enable the use of IT
  • Access to IT the furniture and supplies needed to adopt modern learning (desks, chairs, computers)
  • Availability of trained, skilled learning professionals to deliver Train the Trainer or deliver educational content directly to students
  • Cultural barriers that prevent groups within the community of being educated

The Juna Foundation will deliver it’s first learning facility in 2024 and continue to fund, oversee and support it’s on-going operation.

Our mission is to develop a repeatable, successful process that the Foundation can replicate in similar communities around the world.”
