THE TRUSTEES

We are governed by our Trustees and supported by the Team Members of our Foundation. All of our Trustees and Team Members are volunteers and bring with them invaluable skills, experience and insight which helps to support and direct our work.

SOHAIL JUNA

CHIEF EXECUTIVE OFFICER
Sohail brings more than 20 years of experience in working within global technology businesses including Oracle, Microsoft and Salesforce. Working with enterprises across both the public and private sectors, Sohail has first-hand experience in understanding and solutioning complex business challenges. Having an interest in electronics and computer technology from an early age, he often spent time experimenting with new technology, often modifying items to change the way in which they worked “for the fun of it”.
As he progressed through his education and professional career, he became more focused on leveraging innovation in order to address a real world problem. His upbringing helped him to understand the value of community, education and being able to positively contribute what one is capable of contributing. Sohail founded the Juna Foundation to combine his passions for technology, education and community in order to help improve the opportunities available to people living in deprived communities.

REHANA JUNA

EDUCATION DIRECTOR
Regardless of a partial formal education throughout her schooling, Rehana sought the opportunities to overcome this. Studying as a mature student, whilst raising a young family, she went on to gain an honours in teaching and a Masters in Primary Education. Rehana has had a successful career spanning more than 30 years, in the education sector in the UK, which included working as a headteacher, Inclusion Manager and Family Worker.
Predominantly her experience has been working with the communities from diverse cultural backgrounds, families in challenging circumstances and pupils with special educational needs and disabilities. She brings a wealth of experience to the Foundation and is passionate about ensuring equal access for all. She continues to strive to remove barriers to learning and participation in schools for children and their families to promote their mental health and wellbeing and life opportunities.

KHAN JUNA

SOUHILA BENHAMMOU

Teacher
Working as teacher in local schools within rural Algeria, Souhila saw first-hand how generations of students, whilst being comfortable with the mobile and social technologies they used day-to-day, would often struggle to embrace e-learning platforms and technology-enabled innovation designed to improve their learning experiences.
Predominantly her experience has been working with the communities from diverse cultural backgrounds, families in challenging circumstances and pupils with special educational needs and disabilities. HOW WE CAN HELP

We are right at the beginning of our journey,

With our small team and local volunteers we are currently working to deliver our first Learning Facility
equipped with clean drinking water, clean and reliable energy, internet access, information
technology and trained teaching staff.

The Foundation Team will be working on-the-ground with local leaders and local families to ensure everyone
in the community has the choice to benefit from the project delivered by the Foundation.

We rely on community leaders to help us change cultural norms that result in groups of people being denied
access to education.
